Home Sweet Home! Back in the Blogging Saddle :)

After taking a few days to settle back in at home, we got right back into the swing of things with the help of some great meals!

First, DJ showed off his Grill Master skills yet again at his parents' house. One word: YUM!


Then we caught up with Mark and Rachel at a cool Belgian spot: BXL East. GREAT beer (the BXL is quite refreshing) and tasty mussels and frites.


And we finally made good on our plan to try one of the many new places on Cortelyou Road by checking out Purple Yam. Absolutely delicious. Mel loved the Green Vegetables (with coconut curry) so much she almost licked the bowl. And DJ enjoyed trying the Adobo Chicken (a strong vinegar taste; meat a bit tough) and kimchi. But the piece de resistance was the ice cream. We tried one scoop of avocado and one scoop of banana rum. We almost started dueling with our spoons to finish them off. So good we were inspired to consider buying an ice cream maker!

Munchies in Mexico

A week of free buffet breakfasts and delicious Mexican dinners = heaven. :) Gotta love relaxing beach vacations! But yes, we'll be eating salads and oatmeal for the next month to clear our arteries. lol

And when we got back, we spent the day on Long Island with Toots and Toto. DJ broke out some cool grilling tricks and made AMAZING steaks. We couldn't stop eating! He is officially Grill Master.

Eating in Ethiopia

We were greeted with so much warmth and hospitality in Ethiopia, delicious food was part of every day from morning to night. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words!
