Brooklyn (a.k.a. Brook-a-lyn) Bridge Wine Bar

Amber and Ava were sweet enough to trek it over from New Jersey for a quiet day out in BK.  To make the most of the nice weather and relaxed Labor Day Weekend vibe, we headed down to the Brooklyn Bridge Park area.  Sadly, our favorite brunch spot in that neighborhood - Bubby's - was closed for an event.  But DJ and Kathy spotted a cute new outdoor place right in the park:  Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar.

The whole place is pretty laid back (patio-esque furnitue, one-page menu), and it's smack dab in the center of all the action around the Promenade.  Fun!  The service left a little to be desired, but if you're looking for a chill place to grab a drink when you're hanging out at the park it's not bad at all.  We ordered a round of mimosas (they were quite generous with the champagne), and then:

Mel and DJ opted for the eggs with hash browns and bacon (eggs nice and fluffy; hash browns had a nice hint of bacon flavor!)...

and Kathy and Amber went for the croissant French toast with sausage (Ava dug right in to the sausage, so it must have been good!).

Then we made a lazy day of it and hung around on the grass for a while.  Ava was happy to teach us some yoga moves (not joking) and play ball with DJ for a bit.

After a time, we headed over to our favorite Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory for a sweet treat.  And Ava had a blast watching the water by the bridge, which she promptly renamed: the Brook-a-lyn Bridge.  Sounds better when she says it.  Take a listen:

Overall, a fun day of BK adventures for Ava the Explorer and her trusty Backpack.
