Jersey Exploration: Famous Dave's BBQ

A few people in the area had recommended Famous Dave's BBQ, so on a lazy weekend when we had a BBQ craving we decided to give it a try.  It's a chain restaurant, and we've admittedly become a bit spoiled (translation: "food snÅ«by") by all the specialty BBQ spots in Manhattan and Brooklyn.  But there's something to be said for being able to grab some quick, local take-out.

We ordered our two favorite BBQ items: burnt ends and ribs.

Burnt Ends
(with onion strings)

St. Louis-Style Spareribs
(with cornbread, collards, and baked beans)

Overall, the food was tasty but the sauces were very sweet.  After changing our eating habits to cut processed sugars, we realized we rely less on heavy sauces when we grill and tend to focus more on the natural flavor of the meat and its fat.  So we may not be craving this place on a regular basis.  But when we're in the mood for a bit of 'cue and don't feel like grilling ourselves, we may head back.
